Due to Government Social Distancing Laws under COVID-19 and acting in accordance with GAR 51 (10), the Stewards have directed that the boxing process in Victoria will revert to and continue under the 4-wave model being 1 & 5 boxed first, followed by 3 & 7, followed by 2 & 6, followed by 4 & 8.  Handlers are required to exit the area after boxing and maintain their 1.5m distance from other handlers and staff at all times.

Veritaserum underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to representative/owner Mrs L Cockerell regarding the greyhounds racing manners approaching the winning post. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(A)(1) Veritaserum was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mrs Cockerell pleaded guilty to the charge, Veritaserum is suspended for 28 days at Geelong and must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.

Zipping Sullivan, which performed below market expectations, underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported. Trainer Ms D. Coleman advised Stewards that Zipping Sullivan was disadvantaged by drawing Box 7, and is a relatively inexperienced greyhound that is not suited to racing later in the program. Stewards noted her comments.

Dyna Hunter - New declared weight of 30.8kgs, satisfactory trialled at 32.4kgs.

Zipping Clive  – Late scratching at 2.05pm when Trainer Mr M. Lanigan reported the greyhound to be lame (GAR 23). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards will require a veterinary certificate before any future nomination will be accepted.

Supplementary Report

Shima Breeze – In accordance with GAR 73, presented for a re-vet at the conclusion of kennelling as the greyhound was found to be injured at Sandown on 7 May 2020. Shima Breeze was examined by the on-track veterinarian and found to be injured, subsequently the greyhound was not cleared to race.  A sample was taken in accordance with GAR 79 (1), having presented for the purpose of revoking a stand down period (re-vet).

Fawkner Park– Examined by the on-track veterinarian and found to have a left quadriceps and pencil muscle injury. A 14 day stand down period was recommended.
