Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Abyssal.
Miss Firebird and Mepunga Remi were quick to begin. Abyssal was slow to begin.
Whiter Shade, Abyssal and Maramba collided soon after the start. Imminent Reality, Koenigsegg One and Maramba collided soon after the start checking Koenigsegg One and Maramba. Mepunga Remi and Mid Life Crisis collided on the home turn and again entering the home straight. Whiter Shade raced wide on the home turn. Maramba checked off Whiter Shade in the home straight checking Abyssal. Mid Life Crisis crossed towards the rail approaching the winning post checking Mepunga Remi and Imminent Reality.
Abyssal underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a lumbo-sacral injury. A 5 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Mr R Chivell, the trainer of Abyssal and acting under GAR 75 (1) Stewards ordered Mr Chivell to report as soon as practicable anything that may have affected the running of the greyhound in the event which was not noted by Stewads during or immediately after the event.
