Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Ripplebrook Jess.
Especial Shiraz and Ripplebrook Jess were slow to begin.
Saint David crossed to the outside approaching the first turn checking Tampico and Especial Shiraz. Saint David, Yuken Merry, Sunny's Kayo and Especial Shiraz collided on the first turn checking Sunny's Kayo and severely checking Saint David, Yuken Merry and Especial Shiraz, causing Folding Green to fall. Especial Shiraz checked off Saint David on the second turn. Ripplebrook Jess and Sunny's Kayo collided entering the back straight. Especial Shiraz and Saint David collided on the fourth turn. Especial Shiraz visibly eased and turned its head inwards in the home straight.
Ripplebrook Jess underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a laceration to the left hind leg. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.
Folding Green underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported.
Especial Shiraz underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a right foreleg toe, right monkey muscle and left triangle injuries, a 14 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Mr P. Knott the trainer, regarding the greyhounds racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(B)(1), Especial Shiraz was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr P. Knott pleaded not guilty to the charge, Especial Shiraz was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
