Steward's Report
Midnight Turbo, Weblec Eagle, Roper River Jake and Cosmic Sparkle were slow to begin.
Roper River Jake and Weblec Eagle collided soon after the start checking both greyhounds. Talulah Bale. Rusty Model and Luna Chick collided soon after the start. Midnight Turbo checked off Talulah Bale soon after the start. Talulah Bale checked off Skinny La La approaching the first turn. Midnight Turbo, Talulah Bale, Rusty Model and Luna Chick collided on the first turn checking Roper River Jake, severely checking Rusty Model and Luna Chick and causing Weblec Eagle to fall. Roper River Jake and Skinny La La collided on the third turn. Midnight Turbo and Talulah Bale collided entering the home straight. Roper River Jake severely checked off Talulah Bale in the home straight and stumbled, Skinny La La baulked and crossed to the inside as a result of the collision.
Rusty Model underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was re-examined following race 5. Rusty Model, no apparent injury could be detected. Stewards spoke to the trainer of Rusty Model, Mrs Donna Dean, regarding the greyhounds performance in today's event. After taking into account the interference suffered on the first turn, stewards took no further action.
Luna Chick underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was re-examined following race 5. Luna Chick was found to have a left monkey muscle and a right triangle injuries. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr S. Ralph, the trainer of Luna Chick regarding its performance approaching the home turn. Stewards deemed the performance unsatisfactory, acting in accordance with GAR 71, Luna Chick must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) before any future nomination will be accepted.
Weblec Eagle underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a right fibula injury and a laceration to the right hind leg. A 14 day stand down period was imposed.
A post-race sample was taken from Midnight Turbo - winner of the event.
