Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Kentucky Sun.
Kraken Greta was slow to begin. Hanga and Red Neck Miss collided approaching the first turn. I'm Orion and Strike Power collided on the first turn. Hanga clipped the heels of I'm Orion on the home turn. Crackerjack Des eased in the home straight.
Crackerjack Des underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a spike wound to the left hind, a 3 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to trainer Mr Brian Fothergill, regarding the greyhounds racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(B)(1), Crackerjack Des was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Fothergill pleaded guilty to the charge, Crackerjack Des must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
Meeting Comments:
Japika Gold – Performed a Stewards Satisfactory trial as the greyhound has not competed in an event for in excess of six months due to trainer illness. Weighing 26.6kg and beginning from box 1, Japika Gold completed the 425m trial distance in a time of 25.12. Japika Gold placed 4th in a field of four starters, beaten by 11.25 lengths. Japika Gold has been cleared to race.
Fargo Victorem – Performed a Stewards Satisfactory trial as the greyhound was stood down from racing at the Healesville for failing to chase by reason of injury. Weighing 31.6kg and beginning from box 3, Fargo Victorem completed the 425m trial distance in a time of 24.85. Fargo Victorem placed 3rd in a field of four starters, beaten by 7.5 lengths. Fargo Victorem has been cleared to race at all tracks except Healesville.
