Steward's Report

Dashing Red and Steve Allen were slow to begin.  Spirit Catcher and Kiewa Cowgirl collided soon after the start.  Van Der Vaat and Spirit Catcher collided soon after the start checking Spirit Catcher.  Sir Gazza, Van Der Vaat and Kiewa Cowgirl collided on the first turn checking Van Der Vaat, Dashing Red, Spirit Catcher, Steve Allen and Kayo Marciarno.  Van Der Vaat and Kiewa Cowgirl collided in the front straight.  Spirit Catcher eased on the second turn.  Dashing Red and Kiewa Cowgirl collided on the third turn.  Van Der Vaat and Kayo Marciarno collided on the fourth turn checking Kayo Marciarno.

Stewards spoke to Mr. J. Andrews (catcher in event 8) following this event, regarding his failure to produce his catching licence when asked by stewards.  Mr Andrews informed stewards that he had misplaced his licence.  Stewards advised Mr Andrews to contact GRV to obtain a new licence and reminded him of his responsibilities in this matter.  Stewards also reminded Mr Andrews of his responsibilities regarding the dress code for catchers.

Spirit Catcher was vetted following the event and after being re-vetted following event 11, it was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to it's left wrist.  A 7 day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to Mr. S. Ralph, the trainer of the greyhound Spirit Catcher.  Stewards deemed the performance of Spirit Catcher unsatisfactory in this event and acting in accordance with GAR 71, stewards directed that Spirit Catcher must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) before any future nomination will be accepted.
