Darklight and Rosie cotton collided approaching the home turn, checking Rosie Cotton. Miss Klara checked off Titanium Springs on the home turn. Miss Klara checked off Where's Max entering the home straight. Young Jebrynah checked off Big Little Sis in the home straight.

Young Jebrynah underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injury could be detected. 

Blockette and Zipping Ester were quick to begin.

Banyuatis and Kiwi Swagger collided soon after the start, checking Kiwi Swagger and Ugo Girl. Blockette and Zipping Ester collided on the first turn, checking Blockette. Kiwi Swagger underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was re-vetted following race 6. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a right wrist injury. A 10 day stand down period was imposed. 

Spring Value was slow to begin.

Stewards noted that the muzzle on Cawbourne Terry became dislodged during the running of the event.

Stewards spoke via telephone to kennel representative Mr. T. Dailly, regarding the scratching of Dyna Virion, Galaxy Blaster and Henrow Bale in this event, all of which are trained by Ms. A. Dailly. Mr. Dailly stated that all three greyhounds had raced at Warrnambool on Wednesday night and all had some form of soreness resulting from that run. Mr. Dailly added that as there was a two-day break between races, he erred on the side of caution and scratched the greyhounds accordingly. Stewards noted that the greyhounds were scratched yesterday which allowed both reserves to be eligible to compete in today's event. Stewards noted Mr. Dailly's explanation and took no further action.

Stewards spoke to Mr I. Ognjenovic, the trainer of Alina Grand, regarding the greyhound performing above market expectations. Mr. Ognjenovic stated that Alina Grand was returning to racing from one month's break and with a light preparation, in his opinion, has freshened the greyhound. He added that Alina Grand has run upto its best time of 22.50. Stewards noted his explanation. 

Due to Burn, Temporalis and Bundarra Magic were quick to begin. Vitaliser was slow to begin.

Splash Of Blue, Dashing Diamond and Love Laughing collided on the first turn, checking Love Laughing and Vitaliser.
