The outside temperature (from the on track weather station) at race start time was 28.6 degrees, the inside kennel temperature immediately prior to the race when the greyhounds were retrieved was 18.9 degrees.
Kraken Tan, Kraken Courage and Crystal Bling collided soon after the start checking Kraken Courage. Ebby's Plan, Aston Tyki, Nellie Shan and Crystal Bling collided on the first turn checking Nellie Shan and Crystal Bling. Ebby's Plan and Aston Tyki collided approaching the home turn checking Aston Tyki. Aston Tyki raced wide in the home straight.
