Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Gunmetal Liam.
Kalahari Sands and Cosmic Moments collided soon after the start. Lektra Rival checked off Go Laverne Go soon after the start. Gunmetal Liam, Kalahari Sands and Dyna Bobbi collided approaching the home turn checking Kalahari Sands and Dyna Bobbi; Kalahari Sands lost ground as a result. Shady Whip turned its head outwards in the home straight.
Kalahari Sands was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to its right back muscle. A 28 day stand down period was imposed.
Winlock Strecker was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a laceration medial to the right eye. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.
Shady Whip was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.
Stewards spoke to Mr. R. Brittain, the trainer of the greyhound Shady Whip regarding the greyhound's racing manners in the home straight. Acting under GAR 69(A)(1) Stewards charged Shady Whip with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr. Brittain pleaded guilty to the charge. Shady Whip was found guilty and the greyhound was suspended for 3 months (all tracks) and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(b), before any future nomination will be accepted.
