Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Connor Allen.
Celestial Jewel, Go Seek Fernando and Connor Allen were slow to begin.
Another Bling, Go Seek Fernando and Sure To Excite collided on the first turn checking Another Bling, Go Seek Fernando and Sisco Dun. Celestial Jewel checked off Noosa Parade on the first turn. Sure To Excite checked off Sweet Sparkle on the third turn. Sure To Excite eased entering the back straight. Noosa Parade and Sure To Excite collided on the fourth turn checking Noosa Parade. Connor Allen checked off Sweet Sparkle approaching the home turn. Sure To Excite failed to pursue the lure approaching the home turn and collided with Connor Allen. Sweet Sparkle and Go Seek Fernando collided on the home turn. Another Bling and Sure To Excite collided entering the home straight and again approaching the winning post.
Sure To Excite underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have an injury to the left stopper bone, a 14 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Trainer Mr G. James regarding the greyhounds racing manners entering the back straight and approaching the home turn. Mr James left the course without the permission of Stewards and as such the inquiry was completed in Mr James' absence. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(B)(1), Sure To Excite was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Due to Mr James' absence, there was no plea entered in relation to the charge. Sure To Excite was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
An inquiry into the reason for Mr James leaving course without permission will be convened at a time and date to be fixed.
