Steward's Report

A sample was taken from Dyna Xerox upon arrival at the course.

A pre-race sample was taken from Mercedes Red.

Dr. Abbie and Mercedes Red were quick to begin.  Saint West, Wears Woodleigh and Wilshire Boy were slow to begin.

Saint West checked off Wears Woodleigh approaching the first turn.  Mercedes Red, Dyna Xerox and Dr. Mino collided approaching the first turn.  Saint West and Dyna Carmen collided on the first turn.  Wilshire Boy lost ground from entering the back straight.  Wears Woodleigh visibly eased and failed to pursue the lure with due commitment on the home turn.

Wilshire Boy was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a right back muscle injury, a 60 day stand down period was imposed.

Wears Woodleigh underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a left wrist sprain, a 14 day stand down period was imposed.  Stewards spoke to the trainer Mr I. Brown, regarding the greyhounds racing manners on the home turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(B)(1), Wears Woodleigh was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury).  Mr Brown pleaded guilty to the charge, Wears Woodleigh must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.

A post-race sample was taken from Dr. Mino - winner of the event.
