Steward's Report
Johnny Wishbone was quick to begin. Damnation and Emerald Rainbow were slow to begin.
Damnation, Rig Fifty Five, Emerald Rainbow, Lektra Flirt and Lektra Caution collided approaching the first turn, checking Rig Fifty Five, Damnation and Johnny Wishbone. Lektra Caution raced wide on the home turn. Damnation and Johnny Wishbone collided entering the hone straight.
A sample was taken from Lektra Caution - the winner of the event.
Stewards spoke to Mr George Dailly, the representative of Lektra Caution regarding the kenneling procedure of the greyhound. Stewards adjourned an inquiry to a date to be fixed.
Supplementry Report: Stewards have now finalised an inquiry into the circumstances of the kennelling of Lektra Caution at Ballarat on 30 January 2019. Evidence was initially taken from Mr George Dailly on the day and then subsequently from the Trainer of Lektra Caution, Mrs Andrea Dailly. Mrs Dailly accepted the responsibility for failing to comply with a policy adopted by the Controlling Body (GRV Hot Weather Policy) in that Lektra Caution was kennelled wearing a Barking Muzzle, which is fully prohibited at heat effected race meetings. Mrs Dailly acknowledged the offence and accepted a fine of $250 as penalty. The Stewards would like to remind all participants that the requirements of the Hot Weather and Transport Policies are non-negotiable and sanctions will apply for non-compliance issues. Save for Lektra Caution being passed fit to race, the sanction/fine would be manifestly higher.
