Heat Affected meeting:

In accordance with the GRV Hot Weather Policy, this event was deemed Heat Affected. At the commencement of kenneling, the outside temperature was 32.3 degrees and the kennel temperature was 18.4 degrees. 

The outside temperature at race start time was 26.1 degrees, the inside kennel temperature immediately prior to the race when the greyhounds were retrieved was 21.2 degrees. 

Dyna Wink and Dyna Darius were slow to begin. 

Dyna Zaylee, Dyna Darius, Oddjob Lad, Dyna Ukana and Dyna Wink collided soon after the start, checking Oddjob Lad which lost ground as a result. Dyna Zaylee, Dyna Darius and Dyna Turner raced wide on the home turn. 

Oddjob Lad was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found. 

A sample was taken from Dyna Wink - the winner of the event. 

The outside temperature at race start time was 26.7 degrees, the inside kennel temperature immediately prior to the race when the greyhounds were retrieved was 21.2 degrees. 

A pre-race sample was taken from Dirty Max.

Dyna Acacia was quick to begin. 

Vamoosh, Early Promise and Pectoralis collided soon after the start, checking Early Promise. Pectoralis checked off Vamoosh on the first turn. Early Promise, Vamoosh and Dirty Max collided heavily on the home turn, checking all three greyhounds and causing Vamoosh to race wide. Crakalakin checked off Pectoralis collided approaching the winning post.

Vamoosh was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.

Chapta Lee and Poppy Yaala were quick to begin. Just Talking and Dirty Stella were slow to begin.

Diesel's A Rebel, Tinker Buzz and Chachi Arcola collided approaching the first turn, checking Tinker Buzz. Diesel's A Star and Chachi Arcola collided  on the first turn, causing both greyhounds to race wide. Diesel's A Rebel and Chachi Arcola raced wide on the home turn. Chapta Lee and Poppy Yaala collided in the home straight. Diesel's A Rebel and Chapta Lee collided in the home straight. 

Ms B. Berry, trainer of Laile Brobio declared a new weight of 30.4kgs for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Laile Brobio last raced at 28.9kgs.

The outside temperature at race start time was 26.4 degrees, the inside kennel temperature immediately prior to the race when the greyhounds were retrieved was 21.0 degrees. 

A pre-race sample was taken from Positive Gearing. 

Laile Brobio and Noonbarra Jack were slow to begin.

Bintang Bullet, Positive Gearing and Dyna Frankie collided soon after the start. Kraken Roger and Locked In collided on the first turn, checking Kraken Roger and Laile Brobio. Bintang Bullet checked off Laile Brobio approaching the home turn. Positive Gearing, Dyna Frankie and Noonbarra Jack collided on the home turn, causing Noonbarra Jack to race wide. Positive Gearing and Dyna Frankie collided in the home straight. Positive Gearing and Dyna Frankie collided approaching the winning post. Dyna Frankie turned it's head and eased approaching the winning post. 

Stewards spoke to Mr Shaun Coulson, the representative for the greyhound Dyna Frankie regarding the greyhounds racing manners approaching the winning post.  Dyna Frankie was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to the left monkey muscle and a spike wound to the left hind leg, a 10 day stand down period was imposed.  Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), stewards charged Dyna Frankie with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury).  Mr Coulson pleaded not guilty to the charge, Dyna Frankie was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a),  before any future nomination will be accepted.

A sample was taken from placegetters - Aston Vanquish (1st) and Bintang Bullet (2nd). 

Due to a cool change and recorded outside temperature of 25.9 degrees, the GRV heat policy was dispersed prior to the start of this event. 

Why Not Maxine and Eddie collided on the first turn. Eddie checked off Double Ya Back entering the back straight. Why Not Maxine and Bob's Brew collided entering the back straight, checking Bob's Brew. Bob's Brew and Zoro Bale collided approaching the second turn, checking Bob's Brew and causing Bob's Brew and Eddie to collide. Eddie checked off Double Ya Back on the second turn and again approaching the home turn, checking Eddie who lost ground and raced wide as a result. Goldenpaw Lad and Bob's Brew raced wide on the home turn. 

Eddie was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found. 

Johnny Wishbone was quick to begin. Damnation and Emerald Rainbow were slow to begin. 

Damnation, Rig Fifty Five, Emerald Rainbow, Lektra Flirt and Lektra Caution collided approaching the first turn, checking Rig Fifty Five, Damnation and Johnny Wishbone. Lektra Caution raced wide on the home turn. Damnation and Johnny Wishbone collided entering the hone straight. 

A sample was taken from Lektra Caution - the winner of the event. 

Stewards spoke to Mr George Dailly, the representative of Lektra Caution regarding the kenneling procedure of the greyhound. Stewards adjourned an inquiry to a date to be fixed. 

Supplementry Report: Stewards have now finalised an inquiry into the circumstances of the kennelling of Lektra Caution at Ballarat on 30 January 2019. Evidence was initially taken from Mr George Dailly on the day and then subsequently from the Trainer of Lektra Caution, Mrs Andrea Dailly.  Mrs Dailly accepted the responsibility for failing to comply with a policy adopted by the Controlling Body (GRV Hot Weather Policy) in that Lektra Caution was kennelled wearing a Barking Muzzle, which is fully prohibited at heat effected race meetings. Mrs Dailly acknowledged the offence and accepted a fine of $250 as penalty. The Stewards would like to remind all participants that the requirements of the Hot Weather and Transport Policies are non-negotiable and sanctions will apply for non-compliance issues. Save for Lektra Caution being passed fit to race, the sanction/fine would be manifestly higher. 

My Word Shirley, Bear Left, Lylah's Way and Cruisy's Rose collided approaching the first turn, checking My Word Shirley and Cruisy's Rose; Cruisy's Rose, Peter Yap and Uringa collided as a result, checking Peter Yap. Cruisy's Rose checked off Uringa on the first turn. My Word Shirley, Lylah's Way and Cavernando collided on the first turn, checking Lylah's Way and Cavernando. Peter Yap galloped on Uringa approaching the home turn, checking both greyhounds. My Word Shirley, Cruisy's Rose and Kadakex Kid raced wide on the home turn. 

Stewards spoke to Mr D. Ferguson, the trainer of Cosmic Fox regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Cosmic Fox last raced on 23 Oct 18. Mr Ferguson stated that the greyhound was returning to racing following an injury to the left hindleg (tibia).

A pre-race sample was taken from Smart Knocka.

Cosmic Fox was quick to begin. Fat Rhino was slow to begin. 

Smart Knocka and Cosmic Fox collided approaching the first turn, checking Cosmic Fox. Tom Riddle and Nitro Value collided on the first turn, checking Nitro Value and Who's Got Class. Fat Rhino and Nitro Value collided approaching the home turn, checking Nitro Value. Nitro Value clipped the heels of Cosmic Fox entering the home straight causing Cosmic Fox to stumble. 

A pre-race sample was taken from Winsome Express.

Hotspur Joey and John's Last collided soon after the start, checking Hotspur Joey. Magic Lantern and Winsome Express collided soon after the start. Chief Long Face and Golden Shiraz collided on the first turn, checking Chief Long Face, Cosmic Chieftain and Magic Lantern. Cosmic Chieftain and Magic Lantern collided approaching the home turn, checking Cosmic Chieftain. Chief Long Face and Golden Shiraz collided entering the home straight, checking Chief Long Face. 

Runnin' Rampage was slow to begin. 

Ominous Warning, Saintly Jack and Alina Grand collided soon after the start, checking Ominous Warning and Saintly Jack. Rythym Taboo and Alina Grand collided approaching the first turn, checking Rythym Taboo. Saintly Jack and Alina Grand collided on the first turn, checking Alina Grand. Saintly Jack and Runnin' Rampage collided approaching the home turn, checking Runnin' Rampage. 

Rythym Taboo was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a right back muscle injury. A 60 day stand down period was imposed. 

Take That Banksy was quick to begin. 

Eureka Creek, Chief Command and Take That Banksy collided on the first turn, checking John's Choice which collided with Our Flying Kenny. John's Choice raced wide on the home turn. 

Oh So Rowdy and Girt By Sea collided soon after the start.  Unite Bale, Garick Olivander, Mac and Spritely Brew collided soon after the start, checking Garick Olivander. Garick Olivander, Spritely Brew and Girt By Sea collided approaching the first turn, checking Spritely Brew. Girt By Sea, Mac and Garick Olivander collided on the first turn, checking Garick Olivander. Garlick Olivander and Oh So Rowdy collided on the first turn, checking Garick Olivander.
