A pre-race sample was taken from Blackpool Alexis.
Buck The Jockey and New Fire Girl were slow to begin.
Fiesty Girl and Blackpool Alexis collided approaching the first turn checking Fiesty Girl. Qatar Girl, Taxing and Miss Dozer collided on the first turn checking Qatar Girl and Taxing. Blackpool Alexis faltered on the home turn and subsequently fell severely checking Fiesty Girl which fell checking Miss Dozer and Riverdale Sugar. New Fire Girl and Riverdale Sugar collided in the home straight.
Fiesty Girl was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.
Blackpool Alexis was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a rock hock injury and was humanely euthanised.
Following the event, Stewards inspected the track in the vicinity of where the incident involving Blackpool Alexis took place and deemed the track safe to continue racing.
