Steward's Report
The start of this event was delayed by approximately 2 1/2 minutes to allow a Melton harness race to be completed.
Midnight Starlet was slow to begin. Orson Allen, Vixstar, Panhandle Slim, My Redeemer and Undisputed collided soon after the start checking Vixstar and Panhandle Slim. Orson Allen checked off Slingshot Hammer approaching the first turn. My Redeemer checked off Undisputed on the first turn. Squishy Pea and Midnight Starlet collided on the first turn checking Midnight Starlet and Panhandle Slim; Panhandle Slim stumbled as a result. Vixstar checked off My Redeemer in the back straight. Vixstar and Panhandle Slim collided on the third turn checking both greyhounds.
Panhandle Slim was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a spike wound to its right hind leg. No stand down period was imposed.
Samples were taken from the first three placegetters in this event - Slingshot Hammer (1st), Undisputed (2nd) and Orson Allen (3rd).
