Steward's Report

A pre-race sample was taken from Like Lily.

Bombora Rocket was slow to begin.

Lorenza and Deadly Basilisa collided soon after the start. Deadly Basilisa, Unique Quality, Mahoney Miss and Kamchatka Lenny collided on the first turn, checking Kamchatka Lenny and Mahoney Miss. Notorious King and Bombora Rocket collided in the back straight. Kamchatka Lenny and Mahoney Miss collided in the back straight. Unique Quality and Deadly Basilisa collided approaching the second turn. Like Lily, Deadly Basilisa and Unique Quality collided approaching the home turn, checking Unique Quality and Deadly Basilisa. Notorious King raced wide on the home turn and collided with Deadly Basilisa and Bombora Rocket. Mahoney Miss eased in the home straight.

Stewards spoke to Mr Lindsay Moreshead, the trainer of the greyhound Mahoney Miss, regarding the greyhound’s racing manners in the home straight. Mahoney Miss was vetted and revetted following event six. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the right long head triceps (monkey) muscle, a ten-day stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Mahoney Miss with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury).  Mr Moreshead pleaded guilty to the charge, Mahoney Miss was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.
