Steward's Report
Stewards spoke to Mr Andrew Paraskevas, the representative of Charmed An Taken, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Charmed An Taken last raced on 17 April 2018. Mr Paraskevas stated that the greyhound was returning to racing following a shoulder injury.
Stewards spoke to Mr Troy Scott, the trainer of Brocky, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Brocky last raced on 24 April 2018. Mr Scott stated that the greyhound was returning from an extended spell.
Stewards spoke to Ms Anita Courts, the trainer of True Oakmont, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. True Oakmont last raced on 24 May 2018. Ms Courts stated that the greyhound was returning from an extended spell.
A pre-race sample was taken from Henessey Venom.
The starting times for races 2-12 were all put back one race, with the reschuled starting time for race 12 becoming 11:03 pm. This rescheduling was to allow for maintenance to the lure cable, following damage that occured in race one.
Head Banger and Charmed An Taken collided soon after the start. Brocky, Jiggly Wiggly and Jump In Line collided soon after the start. Head Banger and Jiggly Wiggly collided approaching the first turn. New Samsation checked off Charmed An Taken on the first turn, checking New Samsation, Head Banger and Jiggly Wiggly. Jiggly Wiggly and True Oakmont collided approaching the home turn, checking True Oakmont; causing True Oakmont to lose ground. Jiggly Wiggly checked off New Samsation approaching the home turn, checking New Samsation, severely checking Jiggly Wiggly and Brocky and causing both greyhounds to collide; Brocky fell as a result. Jump In Line raced wide in the home straight.
Brocky was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a left hindleg triangle injury, a seven day stand down period was imposed.
Jiggly Wiggly was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.
True Oakmont was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained right foreleg monkey and left hindleg thigh muscle injuries, a seven day stand down period was imposed.
