A pre-race sample was taken from Trail Blazer.

King Royale and Riverdale Paddy collided soon after the start. Serendipity Girl checked off Striking Gold soon after the start. Hagrid Grange and King Royale collided approaching the first turn. King Royale checked off Trail Blazer on the first turn, checking Hagrid Grange, Monoak and Riverdale Paddy. Hagrid Grange, Monoak and Trail Blazer collided approaching the home turn and again on the home turn. Monoak and Riverdale Paddy collided in the home straight. Hagrid Grange and Monoak collided approaching the winning post. Hagrid Grange and Riverdale Paddy collided approaching the winning post.

Stewards spoke to Mr Ronald Dunne, regarding the form reversal of Striking Gold, which won the event. Mr Dunne stated that the greyhound had trialled well at The Meadows on Friday 3 August and that the greyhound is better suited to an inside draw and f it can lead at the start. Stewards noted Mr Dunne's explanation and directed that a sample be taken from the greyhound.

A sample was taken from Striking Gold, the winner of the event.
