Steward's Report
Stewards spoke to Ms Brooke Berry, the trainer of King Size Shambi, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. King Size Shambi last raced on 6 February 2018 and is returning after a spell.
Mr Peter Schofield, trainer of Devil One, declared a new weight of 33.2 kgs for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Devil One last raced at 34.5 kgs.
A pre-race sample was taken from Devil One.
Just Blacky and King Size Shambi were slow to begin. I've Got Bills crossed to the rail soon after the start, checking Devil One, Rose Of Dyanna, Superior Martini and Just Blacky. King Size Shambi and Devil One collided soon after the start. Superior Martini and Rose Of Dyanna collided at the 200m mark. I've Got Bills and Oamaru Wonder collided at the 200m mark. I've Got Bills and Just Blacky collided several times from the 200m mark to approaching the winning post.
Meeting Comments:
Satisfactory Trial Results (GAR 77A) - Stewards spoke to Ms Kim Ryan, the trainer of Early Special, regarding the length of time since the greyhound last raced. Early Special last raced on 22 December 2018. Ms Ryan stated that the greyhound was returning to racing after being seasonal. Pursuant to GAR 77A, Early Special trialled over the 300m from box three, weight 27.0 kgs, the greyhound was placed second in a field of four. The time of the trial was 16:83, the greyhound was beaten by a margin of 1.5 lengths. Early Special was Cleared.
