Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Violation.
Boney Power was quick to begin. Zipping Kay, Rock Me Xanthe, Spark Joy and Big Unit were slow to begin. Urana Hope was very slow to begin (4 lengths).
Rock Me Xanthe visibly eased approaching the first turn. Violation checked off Boney Power on the first turn. Wenona Bale checked off Violation approaching the home turn and raced wide, severely checking Spark Joy and Big Unit. Rock Me Xanthe checked off Spark Joy on the home turn. Zipping Kay and Violation collided in the home straight. Urana Hope tailed off throughout the event.
Rock Me Xanthe underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have no apparent injury. Trainer, Mr Ian Dann declined the option to have the greyhound re-vetted.
Stewards spoke to Mr Ian Dann, the Trainer of Rock Me Xanthe regarding the greyhounds racing manners approaching the first turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(A)(1) Rock Me Xanthe was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr. Dann pleaded not guilty to the charge, Rock Me Xanthe was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Cranbourne and must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
Urana Hope underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apprent injury was reported.
Stewards spoke to Mr Simon Mallia, the Trainer of Urana Hope regarding its performance in this event. Stewards deemed the performance unsatisfactory, acting in accordance with GAR 71, Urana Hope must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) before any future nomination will be accepted.
Big Unit underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a left wrist injury. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.
