Steward's Report
Sparkling Jewel and Rollin' With It were slow to begin. Sparkling Jewel, Miss Shieka, Fair Ride and Rollin' With It collided approaching the first turn checking Miss Shieka and Fair Ride. Betty La Fae and Zipping Megan collided on the first turn. Black Treasure eased in the home straight.
Black Treasure was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to the right pencil and triangle muscles. A stand down period of 10 days was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr. G. Hansen, the trainer of the greyhound Black Treasure regarding the greyhounds racing manners in the home straight. Acting under GAR 69(A)(1) stewards charged Black Treasure with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr. Hansen pleaded guilty to the charge, Black Treasure was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Bendigo and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
A pre-race sample was unable to be obtained from Rollin' With It and a post race sample was subsequently taken.
