Splinter was slow to begin. Bont's Magic, Splinter, Aston Utah, Zoom Out and Oh So Sleek collided soon after the start checking Bont's Magic and Splinter. Base Camp and Ace Ventura collided on the first turn checking Aston Utah, Zoom Out and Oh So Sleek, severely checking Base Camp and causing Oh So Sleek to race wide. Bont's Magic and Splinter collided on the second turn checking Revved Up Dee, Bont's Magic and Splinter. Base Camp and Aston Utah collided in the back straight checking both greyhounds. Bont's Magic and Splinter collided on the third turn checking Splinter. Splinter faltered on the third turn checking Revved Up Dee. Base Camp and Aston Utah collided in the home straight.
