Steward's Report
Quick Step and Caribbean Red collided soon after the start. Balance, Galina Reznikov and Caribbean Red collided on the first turn. Galina Reznikov clipped the heels of Rocky Ravioli on the second turn. Quick Step, Balance and Sisco Dun collided approaching the third turn, severely checking Balance. Galina Reznikov marred Rocky Ravioli on the home turn, checking Rocky Ravioli. Quick Step and Rocky Ravioli collided in the home straight.
Rocky Ravioli was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injured right back muscle. A 5 day stand down period was imposed.
Galina Reznikov was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound susatined a left hock sprain. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr Clint Capuano, the trainer of the greyhound Galina Reznikov regarding the greyhounds racing manners on the home turn. Acting under GAR 69(1) stewards charged Galina Reznikov with marring. Mr Capuano pleaded guilty to the charge, Galina Reznikov was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at The Meadows and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
Stewards spoke to Ms Martina Kirillidis, the handler of Rocky Ravioli after her difficulty in boxing the greyhound. Ms Kirillidis stated that tonight was her first time handling at the races after recently obtaining her attendants licence. Stewards directed that Ms Kirillidis gain further exposure to boxing greyhounds and familiarise herself with the starting procedures before handling at the races again.
