Urana Vee Eight and Maximum Gift were slow to begin.
Tekeela Too and Penny Rocks collided soon after the start. Penny Rocks, Urana Vee Eight, Fess Crockett and Evelyn collided approaching the first turn checking Evelyn. Maximum Gift raced wide on the first turn. Urana Vee Eight checked off Maximum Gift on the second turn. Penny Rocks checked off Fess Crockett on the second turn. Maximum Gift faltered in the back straight and subsequently tailed off.
Maximum Gift was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a right hock injury, a 60 day stand down period was imposed.
