Steward's Report
Stewards spoke to Mr. B. Jacobs, the trainer of Calvin Candie regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Calvin Candie last raced on 28th August 2018. Mr. Jacobs stated that the greyhound was returning to racing from an extended spell.
Mr. D. Basile trainer of Taxi Jack declared a new weight of 29.6kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Taxi Jack last raced at 30.9kg.
Batik Print was slow to begin.
Tanazoo and Miss Booming collided soon after the start checking both greyhounds. Sammi Jay and Calvin Candie collided approaching the first turn checking Calvin Candie. Batik Print checked off Taxi Jack on the first turn checking both greyhounds and causing Taxi Jack to lose considerable ground as a result. Calvin Candie and Klondike Gold collided on the first turn. Tanazoo and Calvin Candie collided approaching the home turn. Sammi Jay, Mister Peanuts and Klondike Gold collided approaching the home turn. Sammi Jay and Mister Peanuts collided entering the home straight. Mister Peanuts eased in the home straight checking Sammi Jay several times.
Taxi Jack was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the left triangle. A stand down period of 14 days was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Ms. J. Fothergill, the trainer of the greyhound Mister Peanuts regarding the greyhounds racing manners in the home straight. Mister Peanuts was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to the right triangle, a 14 day stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Mister Peanuts with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Ms. Fothergill pleaded guilty to the charge, Mister Peanuts was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.
