Steward's Report
Miss Zok Dee and Soho Silhouette were slow to begin.
Kissable and It All Happens collided soon after the start checking Kissable. It All Happens, Final Punch, Miss Zok Dee and Soho Silhouette collided approaching the first turn causing Final Punch to fall, Soho Silhouette checked off the fallen greyhound. Final Punch raced wide on the home turn. Dawn Eruptor checked off My Boy Joey entering the home straight. It All Happens and Limburg Sprite collided approaching the winning post.
Final Punch was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained bruising over right lumbo muscle and spike wounds to the left fore hind and under left paw, a 5 day stand down period was imposed.
Soho Silhouette was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a left back muscle injury, a 14 day stand down period was imposed. Trainer Michael Davison advised it is his intention to recommend to the owner that Soho Silhouette be retired. Michael Davison was issued a reprimand pursuant to GAR 46 for his failure to appear at the kennels by the appointed time to retrieve the greyhound in preparation for racing. In not taking more severe action Stewards accepted that Mr Davison was attending to his ill greyhound Thera Cee that was scratched from race 12 today.
Stewards questioned Trainer James Fowler in regards to the improved performance of My Boy Joey in this event. Mr Fowler explained that the greyhound has been trialling well here at Geelong and had suffered considerable interference at its most recent start at Ballarat. A sample was taken from My Boy Joey - winner of the event.
