Got Some Zip was quick to begin. Smart Bella was slow to begin.
Maniac Matilda, Woody's My Name and Eye Owe You collided soon after the start checking Woody's My Name. Maniac Matilda, Woody's My Name, Eye Owe You and Smart Bella collided approaching the first turn causing Maniac Matilda to contact the running rail severely checking Maniac Matilda which lost ground as a result. Stealthy Flight checked off Got Some Zip on the first turn checking Got Some Zip and Smart Bella, Stealthy Flight lost ground as a result. Woody's My Name and Eye Owe You collided on the first turn checking both greyhounds. Elphaba Oz raced wide approaching the home turn and collided with Oni several times. Smart Bella checked off Got Some Zip approaching the home turn. Elphaba Oz and Woody's My Name collided several times from approaching the home turn to the home turn.
Elphaba Oz was vetted and re-vetted following event 3. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.
Stewards spoke to Mrs Rachael Busuttil, the representative of the greyhound Elphaba Oz. Stewards deemed the performance of Elphaba Oz unsatisfactory in this event and acting in accordance with GAR 71, Stewards directed that Elphaba Oz must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) before any future nomination will be accepted.
Maniac Matilda was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a right wrist injury and a spike wound to the left fore, a 5 day stand down period was imposed.
