Steward's Report
Stewards spoke to Mr. Ben George, the trainer of Flying Queen regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Flying Queen last race on 22 January, 2018 and is returning to racing following a seasonal spell.
A pre-race sample was taken from Hurricane Billie.
Marvo Mike and Lil' Miss Willow were slow to begin.
Flying Queen and Hurricane Billie collided soon after the start. Flying Queen crossed in on the first turn, checking Bowie Boy. Miss Zok Dee and Elphaba Oz collided approaching the home turn, checking Miss Zok Dee. Goldie's Nugget checked off Elphaba Oz approaching the home turn, checking Marvo Mike, Miss Zok Dee, Elphaba Oz, Bowie Boy, Hurricane Billie and Lil' Miss Willow and severely checking Goldie's Nugget, which stumbled and lost considerable ground; Causing Marvo Mike, Miss Zok Dee and Hurricane Billie to race wide. Marvo Mike raced wide in the home straight.
Goldie's Nugget was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained abrasions to the right hind metatarsal. A 3 day stand down period was imposed.
