Cookie Yap and Sisco Bella were quick to begin. Fat Rhino and Air Commander were slow to begin. Oh Jay Korie and Cookie Yap collided on the first turn checking Cookie Yap. Oh Kay Korie and Sisco Bella collided on the first turn. Zipping Galon galloped on the heels of Cookie Yap on the first turn checking Zipping Galon, Cookie Yap and Fat Rhino. Cookie Yap and Zipping Galon collided on the second turn. Broken Axle turned its head outwards on the fourth turn and collided with Oh Jay Korie checking both greyhounds. Broken Axle and Oh Jay Korie collided approaching the home turn checking Oh Jay Korie. Broken Axle veered outwards and marred Fat Rhino on the home turn checking Fat Rhino and Oh Jay Korie.

Stewards spoke to Mr. W. Donlon, the representative of Broken Axle regarding the greyhound's racing manners on the fourth turn. Acting under GAR 69(A)(1), Stewards charged Broken Axle with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr. Donlon pleaded guilty to the charge. Broken Axle was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Geelong and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a), before any future nomination will be found.
