Steward's Report
The start of this event was delayed approximately one minute due to Ruakaka Thoroughbreds race 5 running behind schedule.
A pre-race sample was unable to be obtained from Just Audrey; a post-race sample was subsequently collected from the greyhound which was unplaced in the event.
Pursuant to GAR 104 (6) lure driver Mr C Chilcott, did not act in any official capacity for this event.
Still In Play was slow to begin.
Oscar De Lonhro and Gats As Promised collided approaching the first turn, checking Gats As Promised. Just Audrey, Lully Singh and Oscar De Lonhro collided approaching the first turn, checking Lully Singh and Oscar De Lonhro. Gats As Promised, Still In Play and Carlanna Casey collided on the first turn, checking Still In Play and Carlanna Casey. Still In Play and Carlanna Casey collided on the second turn, checking both greyhounds. Gats As Promised marred Monica's Joy in the home straight.
Gats As Promised was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to the left deltoid and gracilis (back) muscles. A ten-day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr David Phillips, the trainer of the greyhound Gats As Promised, regarding the greyhound’s racing manners in the home straight. Acting under GAR 69(1) stewards charged Gats As Promised with marring. Mr Phillips pleaded guilty to the charge; Gats As Promised was found guilty and suspended the greyhound for three months (all tracks) and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(b), before any future nomination will be accepted.
