Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from North Wind.
Promiscuous was a late scratching at 9.21pm by order of the Stewards due to the trainer Ms C. Barnard failing to appear at the kennels by the appointed time to prepare the greyhound for this event.
North Wind and Shotgun Shiloh were quick to begin.
North Wind crossed to the rail soon after the start severely checking Murrabit Tiny and Lil' Miss Willow and checking Platinum Malt and Surfonic Pearl. Faye's Not Fazed checked off Platinum Makt on the first turn, Faye's Not Fazed faltered and lost ground checking Lil' Miss Willow as a result. Faye's Not Fazed eased and failed to pursue the lure approaching the winning post.
Stewards spoke to Mr M. Chilcott, the trainer of the greyhound Faye's Not Fazed regarding the greyhounds racing manners in the home straight. Faye's Not Fazed was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to the right triangle, a 7 day stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Faye's Not Fazed with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Chilcott pleaded guilty to the charge, Faye's Not Fazed was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.
A sample was taken from Platinum Malt - unplaced in the event.
Stewards spoke to Ms. C. Barnard, the trainer of Promiscuous regarding her non appearance at the kennels to prepare the greyhound for this event. Stewards subsequently changed Ms. Barnard with a breach of GAR 46(2) in that she failed to appear at the kennels within 5 minutes of the appointed time to retrieve and prepare Promiscuous for event 9. Ms. Barnard pleaded guilty to the charge and was found guilty. In determining a penalty Stewards considered the guilty plea of Ms. Barnard and her previous history relating to similar incidents. Ms. Barnard was fined the sum of $200.
