Steward's Report
Mr S. Mallia, trainer of Heartstring declared a new weight of 27.2kgs for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Heartstring last raced at 28.4kgs.
Stewards spoke to Mr R. Conway, the trainer of Placid Pause regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Placid Pause last raced on 8 December 2017 and is returning from a seasonal break.
A pre-race sample was taken from Chapta Lee.
New Fire Girl and Tory's Rocket were quick to begin. Banknote was slow to begin.
Chapta Lee and Heartstring collided soon after the start. Heartstring, Placid Pause and Fireball Annie collided soon after the start checking Placid Pause. New Fire Girl checked off Tory's Rocket approaching the first turn. New Fire Girl and Chapta Lee collided on the first turn. New Fire Girl checked off Heartstring approaching the home turn. Heartstring checked off Polo Pete approaching the home turn. Banknote raced wide on the home turn. Banknote and Placid Pause collided in the home straight. New Fire Girl and Chapta Lee collided in the home straight. Placid Pause eased, collided with Chapta Lee and failed to pursue the lure with due commitment approaching the winning post.
Stewards spoke to Mr R. Conway, the trainer of the greyhound Placid Pause regarding the greyhounds racing manners in the home straight. Placid Pause was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to the left toe, a 5 day stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Placid Pause with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Conway pleaded not guilty to the charge, Placid Pause was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.
