Dragon Black was quick to begin. Franky's Fury was slow to begin.
Fleetwood Nemo (turned it's head outwards turning off the back straight) underwent a post–race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported. Representative Mr. Vincent Borg declined the option to have the greyhound re–examined. Stewards spoke to representative Mr. Vincent Borg regarding Fleetwood Nemo’s racing manners turning off the back straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 124, Fleetwood Nemo was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr. Borg pleaded guilty to the charge. Fleetwood Nemo was suspended for 28 days (1st offence) at Geelong and must perform a Satisfactory Trials in accordance with GAR 127, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
