Satisfactory Trials
Stewards spoke to Mr. J. Westerlo, the trainer of the greyhound Diamond Bling regarding the length of time since the greyhound last raced. Diamond Bling last raced on 2nd August 2017. Mr. Westerlo stated that the greyhound was returning to race after competing in a coursing event. Pursuant to GAR 77A, Diamond Bling trialled over the 311 metre distance from box 1, weight 29.1kgs. The greyhound was placed 4th, in a field of 4. The time of the trial was 17.85. The greyhound was beaten by a margin of 15 lengths. Diamond Bling was severely checked on the first turn. Diamond Bling was cleared.
Stewards spoke to Mr. C Haas, the trainer of the greyhound Habana City regarding the length of time since the greyhound last raced. Habana City last raced on 17th August 2017. Mr. Haas stated that the greyhound was returning to race after a left front leg injury. Pursuant to GAR 77A, Habana City trialled over the 311 metre distance from box 3, weight 27.7kgs (New declared weight - last start weight 29.1kgs). The greyhound was placed 3rd, in a field of 4. The time of the trial was 17.85. The greyhound won by a margin of 7 lengths. Habana City was cleared.
Stewards spoke to Mr D Knocker, the representative of the greyhound Tinaca De Kahn regarding the length of time since the greyhound last raced. Tinaca De Kahn last raced on 8th July 2017. Mr Knocker stated that the greyhound was returning to race after injuries to both its left and right monkey muscles. Pursuant to GAR 77A, Tinaca De Kahn trialled over the 311 metre distance from box 5, weight 28.6kgs (New declared weight - last start weight 27.5kgs). The greyhound was placed 1st, in a field of 4. The time of the trial was 17.85. The greyhound won by a margin of 5 lengths. Tinaca De Kahn was cleared.
Supplimentary report:-
Mr. J. Grima presented Empress Lu for a vet check at Cranbourne (28/02/18) as requested by Stewards. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a right triangle injury a 21 day stand down was imposed. As a result Stewards opened and adjourned an inquiry as to why Ms. Houlahan, the representitive of Empress Lu, left the Sale meeting on the 25/2/18 without having the greyhound vetted.
