Steward's Report

Nostalgia was slow to begin.

Wok Djay and Badenov collided soon after the start. Short Leash and Octo Flash collided soon after the start. Badenov checked off Wok Djay at the 300m mark, checking Badenov. Brakae marred Short Leash at the 250m mark and again at the 100m mark. Roger's Boy eased at the 100m mark. Short Leash and Wok Djay collided approaching the winning post.

Badenov was vetted and revetted following event six. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the right gracilis muscle. A 14-day stand down period was imposed.

Brakae was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to the right shoulder muscle and the cervico-thoracic area, and spike wounds to both hind feet. A 14-day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Mr David Willcocks, the trainer of the greyhound Brakae, regarding the greyhound’s racing manners at the 250m mark and the 100m mark. Acting under GAR 69(1) stewards charged Brakae with marring. Mr Willcocks pleaded not guilty to the charge, Brakae was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Healesville and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.

Stewards spoke to Mr Roger Bloomfield, the trainer of the greyhound Roger's Boy, regarding the greyhound’s racing manners at the 100m mark. Roger's Boy was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained spike wounds to both hind feet, a three-day stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Roger's Boy with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury).  Mr Bloomfield pleaded guilty to the charge, Roger's Boy was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.
