Stewards spoke to Mr David Plant, the trainer of the greyhound Miss Cheekiness, regarding the greyhound’s racing manners in the home straight. Miss Cheekiness was vetted and revetted following event three. It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to the right biceps femoris (thigh) muscle, a five-day veterinary stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Miss Cheekiness with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury).  Mr Plant pleaded guilty to the charge, Miss Cheekiness was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.

Ms Brooke Berry, trainer of Arrogant Chapta, declared a new weight of 33.5kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Arrogant Chapta last raced at 31.9kg.

Stewards spoke to Mr Jordyn Naylor regarding his difficulty in boxing the greyhound Fabio's Son. Stewards directed that Fabio's Son be boxed first in future events.

It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to the left long head triceps (monkey) muscle, a five-day stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Nod Ya Head with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury).  Mr McDonnell pleaded not guilty to the charge, Nod Ya Head was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.

Stewards spoke to Mr Alfred Spiteri after the greyhound Regal Tycoon was placed in the incorrect kennel during the kennelling process. Mr Spiteri was issued with a warning and reminded when kennelling he ensures greyhounds are kennelled in accordance with kennel procedure. 

Stewards spoke to kennel attendant, Mr Gary Brett after the greyhound Regal Tycoon was placed in the incorrect kennel during the kennelling process. Mr Brett was reminded of their responsibilities and asked to ensure that all greyhounds are correctly kennelled in future. This matter was referred to the Club Manager for further consideration.

Shi The One was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a dislocation to the right hind toes. A 21-day stand down period was imposed.

Weiss Allen was vetted following the event after suffering interfence pursuing the follow-on lure. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a fracture of the left radius and ulna and was humanely euthanised.

Mr Ronald Fisher, trainer of Jellybean Jess, declared a new weight of 27.9kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Jellybean Jess last raced at 29.2kg.

MEETING COMMENTS

Satisfactory Trial Results - Quen Bale trialled over the 400m from box one, weight 26.9kg, the greyhound was placed fourth in a field of four. The time of the trial was 23.12, the greyhound was beaten by a margin of 12.5L. Quen Bale was not cleared.

Satisfactory Trial Results - Zipping Nessy trialled over the 400m from box two, weight 27.3kg, the greyhound was placed second in a field of four. The time of the trial was 23.12, the greyhound was beaten by a margin of 0.75L. Zipping Nessy was not cleared.

Satisfactory Trial Results - Inga Ross trialled over the 400m from box six, weight 33.0kg, the greyhound was placed first in a field of four. The time of the trial was 23.12, the greyhound won by a margin of 0.75L. Inga Ross was cleared.

Satisfactory Trial Results - Gregorovitch trialled over the 460m from box one, weight 38.6kg, the greyhound was placed first in a field of four. The time of the trial was 25.83, the greyhound won by a margin of 5.25L. Gregorovitch was cleared.

SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

Licensed Trainer Ms Anita Courts pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to GAR 86(q). The particulars being that she engaged in conduct that was detrimental and prejudicial to the control of greyhound racing by way of swearing and inappropriate language towards Steward Gary Bromley following the running of race three today. In arriving at penalty Stewards took into account that swearing towards an official or Steward is not acceptable. The need for general and specific deterrence. The incident took place in the kennelling area in front of other licensed participants and Club Staff. The conduct was directed towards a Steward fulfilling his duties which is detrimental to the image and control of greyhound racing. Ms Courts was fined the sum of $300.
