Steward's Report
A pre race sample was taken from Ark Lightning.
Tomdor was slow to begin. Ark Lightning, Gambler's Loot and Crackerjack Jim collided approaching the first turn, checking Gambler's Loot. Crackerjack Jim, Ark Lightning and Whalephant collided on the first turn, checking Ark Lightning and Whalephant. Gamler's Loot brushed the running rail on the first turn. Tomdor raced wide approaching the home turn. Whalephant failed to pursue the lure with due commitment in the home straight and collided with Ark Lightning.
Stewards spoke to Mr S Divers, the trainer of the greyhound Whalephant regarding the greyhounds racing manners in the home straight. Whalephant was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injured right shoulder and spike wounds, a 7 day stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Whalephant with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury).Mr Divers pleaded guilty to the charge, Whalephant was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.
