A pre race sample was taken from Pyrenees Petraca.
Harry's Hammer was slow to begin. Bonnie Blue and Riverdale Danger collided soon after the start. Bonnie Blue galloped on the heels of Hayley Hane approaching the first turn. Bonnie Blue and Riverdale Danger collided on the first turn, checking Riverdale Danger and Harry's Hammer. Hayley Jane and Bonnie Blue raced wide entering the home straight and collided several times in the home straight resulting in Hayley Jane becoming unbalanced. Bonnie Blue marred the running of Hayley Jane approaching the winning post.
Hayley Jane was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injured right pencil muscle and left triangle muscle, a 7 day stand down period was imposed.
Bonnie Blue was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injured right monkey muscle, a 14 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to J Gaut, the handler of the greyhound Bonnie Blue regarding the greyhounds racing manners approaching the winning post. Acting under GAR 69(1) stewards charged Bonnie Blue with marring. J Gaut pleaded not guilty to the charge, Bonnie Blue was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Ballarat and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
