Steward's Report
The Club Veterinary Surgeon examined Good Boy Oscar and no illness was detected. The greyhound was a late scratching at 6.15pm due to weight variation (GAR 39). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Trainer Mr. A. Blake was fined the sum of $100.
Evelyn was quick to begin. Dr. Noely was slow to begin. Wanneroo and Candy Rose collided soon after the start. Wanneroo and Dr. Noely collided approaching the first turn. Akina Blitz and Wanneroo collided on the first turn and again on the second turn. Wanneroo eased on the second turn. Akina Blitz was checked off Evelyn on the third turn. Candy Rose, Akina Blitz and Evelyn collided on the home turn. Dr. Noely and Rapid Rock collided entering the home straight. Akina Blitz and Evelyn collided in the home straight.
Stewards spoke to Mr. S. Creighton the trainer of the greyhound Wanneroo regarding the greyhound's racing manners on the second turn. Wanneroo was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injured right back muscle and a spike wound to the right dew claw, a 7 day stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1) Stewards charged Wanneroo with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment by reason of injury. Mr. Creighton pleaded guilty to the charge, Wanneroo was found guilty and Stewards directed that the greyhound perform a satisfactory trial all tracks pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
