Beksun, Storm Train and Billy Swagger were slow to begin.
Ima Rockstar, Surfside Squids and Maximum Jan collided approaching the first turn, checking Surfside Squids. Surfside Squids checked off Storm Train approaching the first turn, severely checking Surfside Squids which fell as a result. Beksun checked off Maximum Jan on the first turn, checking Storm Train. Storm Train checked off Billy Swagger approaching the home turn.
Surfside Squids was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the biceps femoris (thigh) muscle. A ten-day stand down period was imposed.
