Pursuant to GAR 104(6), lure driver, Mr G Bahen, did not act in any official capacity for this event and was replaced by J Ryan.
A pre-race sample was taken from Kid Carl.
Splash Of Blue was quick to begin. Cullquin Bomber and Jet Blaster were slow to begin.
Unbackable and Raloo Barbara collided soon after the start. Jet Blaster, Ernie's Legacy and Kid Carl collided at the 150m mark. Ernie's Legacy and Kid Carl collided at the 120m mark. Ernie's Legacy, Raloo Barbara and Kid Carl collided at the 100m mark, checking Kid Carl. Splash Of Blue marred Jet Blaster approaching the winning post.
Splash Of Blue was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to the right long head triceps (monkey) and sartorius (pencil) muscles. A 14-day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr Garry Selkrig, the trainer of the greyhound Splash Of Blue, regarding the greyhound’s racing manners approaching the winning post. Acting under GAR 69(1) stewards charged Splash Of Blue with marring. Mr Selkrig pleaded guilty to the charge, Splash Of Blue was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Healesville and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
