Sanduman and Hardaway Zoe were slow to begin.

Holiday Dancer and Sara's Sox collided at the 250m mark. Holiday Dancer crossed to the outside at the 200m mark. Maniac Matilda and Don's Bobcat collided at the 200m mark and again at the 150m mark, severely checking Maniac Matilda. Sanduman checked off Sara's Sox at the 100m mark. Maniac Matilda and Sara's Sox collided several times from the 100m mark to the winning post, checking both greyhounds.

North Wind, Sandulad, Fabio's Son and Trapezius collided soon after the start. Sandulad and North Wind collided at the 300m mark. Fabio's Son and One Smarty collided at the 300m mark, checking Fabio's Son. One Smarty checked off Fabio's Son at the 250m mark. One Smarty and Fabio's Son collided at the 200m mark. Trapezius and Triceps Brachii collided approaching the 150m mark. North Wind eased at the 100m mark.

North Wind was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained no apparent injury. Kennel representative, Mr Michael Tharle, declined a revet.

Stewards spoke to Mr Michael Tharle, the kennel representative for the greyhound North Wind, regarding the greyhound’s racing manners at the 100m mark. Acting under GAR 69(A)(1) stewards charged North Wind with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Tharle pleaded guilty to the charge, North Wind was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Healesville and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.

Alouette Jack was slow to begin.

Daintree Dynamo, Tricky Trey, Redefined and Miss Pepperoni collided soon after the start. Daintree Dynamo crossed to the outside approaching the 200m mark, checking Tricky Trey and Redefined. Tricky Trey and Redefined collided at the 200m mark.

A sample was taken from Alouette Jack, the winner of the event.

Bless 'Em All and Daintree Teacake collided soon after the start. Unusable checked off Bless 'Em All soon after the start. Bless 'Em All, Daintree Teacake and Massive Attack collided at the 300m mark, checking Daintree Teacake. Unusable and Daintree Teacake collided approaching the 250m mark and again at the 200m mark, severely checking both greyhounds and causing Unusable to stumble. Massive Attack checked off Bless 'Em All approaching the 150m mark.

Unusable was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a spike wound to the right hind foot. A seven-day stand down period was imposed.

Daintree Teacake was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained abrasions to the right hind leg. A five-day  stand down period was imposed.

Cosmic Breeze was slow to begin.

Cosmic Breeze and Tyson Trump collided at the 300m mark, causing Tyson Trump to stumble, falter and subsequently pull up, checking Just Jezza. Samba King and Freedom Fire collided at the 175m mark.

Tyson Trump was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a tarsal fracture of the right hock. A 90-day stand down period was imposed.

Freedom Fire was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a spike wound to the left foreleg. A ten-day stand down period was imposed.

Prior to the running of this event the outside temperature was recorded at 25.6 degrees. The kennel temperature was 20.4 degrees. 

Trouper was slow to begin.

Juno Away and Succession Plan collided soon after the start. Aston Dinnigan and Pat Me Again collided soon after the start. Juno Away crossed to the outside at the 300m mark and collided with Succession Plan, Main One and Jimmy's Angel. Jimmy's Angel crossed to the rail at the 250m mark, checking Succession Plan and Main One.

Aston Dinnigan was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a laceration to the right front leg. A ten-day stand down period was imposed.

Quink was a late scratching at 11.06pm on 25 January, 2018 due to injury (GAR 23). A ten-day stand down period was imposed. Stewards will require a veterinary certificate before any future nomination will be accepted. 

The start of this event was delayed by approximately two minutes due to delays in the kennelling area. 

Captain Marvel was slow to begin.

Merc, Blackjack's Back and Galo's Best collided soon after the start. Blackjack's Back and Captain Marvel collided at the 300m mark, causing Captain Marvel to stumble. Rumbling Bajooks and Galo's Best collided approaching the 250m mark. Merc, Galo's Best and Bullocky Bill collided at the 250m mark. Merc checked off Bullocky Bill at the 200m mark. Galo's Best lost ground from the 200m mark to the winning post.

Galo's Best was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained no apparent injury. No stand down period was imposed.

Nangar Warrior and Down Mexico Way were slow to begin.

Nangar Warrior and Inter Elesha collided at the 300m mark. Cullquin Bomber and Down Mexico Way collided several times from the 300m mark to the 150m mark. Sleeping Slick and Inter Elesha collided at the 100m mark. Cullquin Bomber and Down Mexico Way collided approaching the winning post

A sample was taken from Nangar Warrior, the winner of the event.

A pre-race sample was taken from Blue Knight. 

Lamington Lass and Sunlit Breaker collided soon after the start. Shooter's Odysey crossed to the outside soon after the start. Rhomboid and Blue Knight collided from the 300m mark to the 250m mark. Rhomboid checked off Blue Knight at the 200m mark. Sunlit Breaker and Blue Knight collided at the 100m mark, checking Sunlit Breaker. Blue Knight and Semantic Shift collided at the 100m mark and again at the 50m mark, checking Blue Knight and Sunlit Breaker.

Sunlit Breaker was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to the right shoulder joint and the left sartorius (pencil) muscle. A 14-day stand down period was imposed.

An Out of Competition Sample was taken from Toby Sure on 24 January 2018, pursuant to GAR 79A.

Stewards spoke to Mr Graham Glass, the trainer of Dark Vader, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Dark Vader last raced 15 September 2017 is returning to racing following a back muscle injury.
