Steward's Report
Stewards spoke to Ms Adele Powell, the trainer of Piccolo Princess, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Piccolo Princessr last raced at Shepparton on 19 June 2017. Ms Powell stated that the greyhound is returning to racing following a right hock injury.
A pre-race sample was taken from In A Spin.
In A Spin was slow to begin. Lady Beatrix and Piccolo Princess collided soon after the start, checking Piccolo Princess. Lady Beatrix checked off Tat Odin approaching the first turn. Tat Odin checked off Tophat And Tails approaching the first turn. Good Humour, Radio Silent and Tophat And Tails collided approaching the first turn, checking Radio Silent. Good Humour and Tophat And Tails collided on the first turn, checking Tophat And Tails. Tophat And Tails and Lady Beatrix collided entering the home straight. Good Humour and Lady Beatrix collided approaching the winning post.
Piccolo Princess was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained right foreleg sesamoid and right hindleg hock injuries, a 21 day stand down period was imposed.
A sample was taken from Piccolo Princess – beaten favourite in the event (unplaced - 8th position).
