Hurricane Ben was vetted following the event and after being re-vetted following event 4, it was reported that there was no injury apparent.

Stewards spoke to Mrs. V. Sultana the trainer of the greyhound Hurricane Ben.  Stewards deemed the performance of Hurricane Ben unsatisfactory in this event and acting in accordance with GAR 71 Stewards directed that Hurricane Ben must perform a satisfactory trial all tracks before any future nomination will be accepted.

Payton, Hurricane Billie and Zipping Foy were slow to begin.  Emilia Magic and Eden Monaro crossed in on the first turn checking Spin The Trolley, Payton and Regas Baby and severely checking Hurricane Billie and Zipping Foy, Hurricane Billie subsequently pulled up.  Eden Monaro was checked off Emilia Magic approaching the second turn.  Spin The Trolley was checked off Eden Monaro on the second turn.  Belron Bliss raced wide on the home turn severely checking Payton, Belron Bliss and Emilia Magic.

Belron Bliss was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained an abrasion to the left hind foot, no stand down period was imposed.

Hurricane Billie was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a fractured left scapula, a 60 day stand down period was imposed.

Mrs. K. Gorman the trainer of Slingshot Jayla declared a new weight of 28.4kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2),  Slingshot Jayla last raced at 26.7kg.

Crucial Conflict was quick to begin.  Little Freck and Dr. Sparkles were slow to begin.  Mister Walker was checked off Saboteur on the first turn checking Good One Carl and severely checking Little Freck and Dr. Sparkles.  Mister Walker and Dr. Sparkles collided on the second turn.  Crucial Conflict was checked off Saboteur in the home straight.

Hurricane Lucas was slow to begin.  Lucas Rose crossed to the rail soon after the start checking Wot Price Boofa, Emilia Mel and Zipping Todd.  Paisley and Zipping Todd collided in the back straight.  Emilia Mel and Dr. Noely collided approaching the home turn checking both greyhounds.  Hurricane Lucas and Paisley collided on the home turn.

Stewards spoke to Mr. P. Borradale the trainer of Instant Allen regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Instant Allen last raced on 01/06/17.  Mr. Borradale stated that the greyhound was returning to racing following a spell and change of kennel.
