A pre-race sample was taken from King Of Merrimu upon arrival at the course, prior to kennelling.
Ben Nevis was quick to begin. Fonty Allen and Dyna Evelyn were slow to begin.
Calendar Boy and Why Not Archie collided approaching the first turn. King Of Merrimu galloped on Why Not Archie on the first turn, checking Why Not Archie and Dyna Evelyn, and severely checking King Of Merrimu and Fonty Allen. Calendar Boy and Fonty Allen collided on the first turn, checking both greyhounds.
King Of Merrimu was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the right gracilis (back) muscle. A seven-day stand down period was imposed.
