Steward's Report
An Out of Competition Sample was taken from Pretty Machine, engaged in this event, on 18th September 2017, pursuant to GAR 79A.
A pre-race sample was taken from Whip Lee.
Steinbeck Knew was quick to begin. Steinbeck Knew and Cash Ownley collided soon after the start checking Steinbeck Knew. Tekki Lightning, No Guarantees and Pretty Machine collided approaching the first turn checking No Guarantees. No Guarantees checked off Cash Ownley on the first turn. Pretty Machine and Canya Rousey collided approaching the home turn checking Whip Lee, Tekki Lightning, Pretty Machine and Steinback Knew. Whip Lee checked off Cash Ownley entering the home straight severely checking Tekki Lightning and Pretty Machine. Canya Rousey failed to persue the lure with due commitment approaching the winning post.
Stewards spoke to Mr. T. Burns the trainer of the greyhound Canya Rousey regarding the greyhound's racing manners approaching the winning post. Canya Rousey was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained abrasions to its right hind metatarsal and a spike wound to its left hind foot. A 5 day stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the Stewards charged Canya Rousey with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr. Burns pleaded guilty to the charge. Canya Rousey was found guilty and Stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.
