This event was delayed by 16 mins and re-scheduled to commence at 4:30pm, to allow for the boxes to be re-alined. The boxes then failed to open.  All greyhounds were removed from the boxes and vetted.  Greyhounds Canya Touche (5) and Skibbo (9) were declared unfit to race and were declared late scratchings at 4.29pm.

Canya Touche was vetted at the boxes.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained stress following the false start, a 3 day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to Mr. A. Azzopardi, the trainer of Crash Cobra regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Crash Cobra last raced on 26th March, 2017. Mr. Azzopardi stated that the greyhound was returning to racing following a right stopper bone injury.

Wright, the trainer of Lightning Frank regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Lightning Frank last raced on 3rd May, 2017.  Mr. Wright stated that the greyhound was returning to racing following a left achilles injury which resulted in an extended spell.

Paraphernalia was a late scratching at 2.05pm due to weight variation (GAR 39). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Trainer J. Guy was fined the sum of $100.

MEETING COMMENTS:

Satisfactory Trial Results (GAR 77A) & Weight Trial - Stewards spoke to Mr. W. Hartigan, the trainer of Avatar Flame regarding the length of time since the greyhound last raced.  Avatar Flame last raced on 19th October, 2016.  Mr. Hartigan stated that the greyhound was new to his kennel. Pursuant to GAR 77A, Avatar Flame trialled over the 410m from box 2, weight 33.3kgs the greyhound was placed 2nd in a field of 4. The time of the trial was 24.02, the greyhound was beaten by a margin of a neck. Avatar Flame was Cleared.
