Crackerjack Roy was slow to begin.
Fear Fire crossed to the inside soon after the start. Oliver Cruise and Fear Fire collided soon after the start. Fear Fire and Lochinvar Rox collided soon after the start. Early Special crossed to the inside at the 250m mark, checking Barked Off and Fear Fire. Lochinvar Rox and Oliver Cruise crossed to the outside at the 200m mark and collided at the 150m mark. Ninetymile Holly and Barked Off collided several times from the 50m mark to the winning post.
