Steward's Report

Mr. G. Julian, handler of Blazing Lane declared a new weight of 30.0kgs for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2).  Blazing Lane last raced at 31.3kgs. 

A pre-race sample was taken from Blazing Lane.

Injector, Sunningdale and Bert's Special collided soon after the start checking Bert's Special.  Injector, Lost Blue, Clovally Mansumi and Blazing Lane collided on the first turn checking Lost Blue and Injector.  Sunningdale, Clovally Mansumi and Blazing Lane collided approaching the home turn checking Blazing Lane.  Lost Blue, Blazing Lane and Bert's Special collided on the home turn.  Sunningdale and Jockey Bale collided in the home straight.  Injector marred the running of Ariki Whero approaching the winning post.

Injector was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to its right flexor tendon and a spike wound to its right mt region.  A 7 day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to Mr. A. Armstrong, the trainer of the greyhound Injector regarding the greyhound's racing manners approaching the winning post.  Acting under GAR 69(1), Stewards charged Injector with marring.  Mr. Armstrong pleaded guilty to the charge.  Injector was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Shepparton and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.

Crash Cobra was presented for a re-vet at the conclusion of kennelling and was cleared to race.  

Satisfactory Trial Results

Crash Cobra trialled over the 390 metre distance from box 1, weight 35.3kgs.  The greyhound was placed 1st, in a field of 4.  The time of the trial was 22.17.  The greyhound won by a margin of 14 1/4 lengths.  Crash Cobra was cleared.
