A pre race sample was taken from Awesome Shep.
Kiowa Kaema was slow to begin. Puzzles, Avatar Sparkle and Dazzling Melody collided soon after the start, checking Avatar Sparkle and Dazzling Melody. Suntory Dream, Miss Peanut, Wilbur Deeds and Avatar Sparkle collided on the first turn, severely checking Avatar Sparkle, which fell as a result. Miss Peanut checked off the heels of Wilbur Deeds on the home turn. Suntory Dream and Wilbur Deeds collided entering the home straight. Suntory Dream faltered in the home straight.
Suntory Dream was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the right metatarsals and a laceration to the left front leg, a 60 day stand down period was imposed.
Avatar Sparkle was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a spike wound to the left front leg. No stand down period was imposed.
